Egypt may be a largely Muslim country where many women wear veils in public, but that isn't stopping one producer from preparing his own local version of "Baywatch." Tentatively titled "Action in Hurghada," producer Yousef Mansour's project is currently looking for attractive men and women to fill the cast.

"I loved 'Baywatch' and decided it was a good vehicle to promote many things in modern Egypt, to show beautiful beaches and the reefs -- our underwater treasures," Mansour tells the BBC.

The script for the first episode will be a mixture of Arabic and English and Mansour hopes to sell the show to a worldwide audience outside of Egypt.

"We are looking for good-looking people but it's not a beauty contest," Mansour promises. "They have to be charming, they have to be a certain height and they have to have a sportive attitude."

At least one person has already met these high standards -- Mansour himself. The producer intends to star as well. He's also invited David Hasselhoff to participate in the final selection process.

In keeping with the cultural dictates of its native land, "Action in Hurghada" will be low on sex, but high on chaste romance. Mansour hopes the show will be good for Egypt's worldwide image.

"The foreign view is that there is nothing but war and killing in the Middle East. In the West, our image is of people driving camels," he says.
